A Little Something

This chair is just one of my contributions to raise money for the Child Advocacy Center in Cumberland County, Fayetteville, NC .

A larger photo can be seen by clicking the image to there web site but don’t forget to hit your back button to return to this page.

I would love to do more to help neglected and abused children, so I am working really hard to be able to have the means for this and many more projects.

I don’t want to wither away twiddling my thumbs while innocent women, children, senior citizens or anyone for that matter, who are being used, abused, dissed or discriminated against.

I think most people in this country need to be ashamed of their lack of concern.

This is the reason for most of the Organizations we must have in place , in order to help those less fortunate than the rest of us, no matter what our own problems are, there are so many, too many , who suffer needlessly everyday of their lives.

"I don’t want to wither away twiddling my thumbs while innocent women,
children, senior citizens or anyone for that matter, who are being
used, abused, dissed or discriminated against."

Our Military fight for our freedom of this country, who am I to sit back and watch as my family, friends and neighbors struggle to make ends meet ?
We are all accountable for our own actions and reactions, why don’t we try to help and make this a better, safer, healthier life for all?

Speak up, say your piece, fight injustice in your own community!

It can be a new beginning for us all…but like the Military, we have to do it together.

None are more hopelessly enslaved, as those who falsely believe they are free….

I don’t know who made this quote, but for me, the more I find out about what’s going on in the world around me and what’s happening here in our county, it makes more sense.

I’m a survivor, but what good is it to survive without freedom?  They also say "freedom isn’t free"…

Our Military knows all to well about that. Don’t think that " they " haven’t paid a price for their part in the war against the terrorists and hate mongers, who threaten our lives.  The wives and children know, the parents and extended families, all know. The Veterans know, just ask them…

If you’re asking yourself why " I " ( a mere nobody ) bother to bring any of this up, it’s not like " I " ( a mere nobody ) can do anything about it…then "you"  don’t need to be reading it.

Maybe I should elaborate (explain) it to you again…

"I don’t want to " sit back " and wither away twiddling my thumbs, while innocent women,
children, senior citizens or anyone for that matter, who are being
used, abused, dissed or discriminated against."

If you think things aren’t that bad, then maybe you haven’t dug deep enough to the available resources we have," here on the Internet ". Don’t just look at what is being said today, educate yourself with our country’s history, read what other countries government’s are doing to make life better for their people.

You must have heard about the so called " Quality of Life " issues, it’s been a very popular topic for most of our politicians….

Merrian Webster Online defines the word  "politicians" as a noun

1: a person experienced in the art or science of government; especially : one actively engaged in conducting the business of a government

2: a: a person engaged in party politics as a profession
b: a person primarily interested in political office for selfish or other narrow usually short-sighted reasons

Interesting, right?    there’s more…

Wikipedia
states

a " politician " (from Greek "polis") is an individual who is involved in influencing public decision making through the influence of politics or a person who influences the way a society is governed through an understanding of political power and group dynamics.
This includes people who hold decision-making positions in government,
and people who seek those positions, whether by means of election, coup d’état, appointment, electoral fraud, conquest, right of inheritance (see also: divine right)
or other means.

"Politics are not limited to governance through public
office. Political offices may also be held in corporations, and other
entities that are governed by self-defined political processes."

Wikipedia’s also states a definition…

Considered a politician

    * A person who is active in party politics.
    * In a state, a member of the executive branch of government, or the office of Head of State, as well as the legislative branch, and regional and local levels of government.
    * Any person influencing group opinions in his or her favor can be termed a politician. For example, a worker participating in office politics is a politician, but only so far as the operations of his or her workplace are concerned.
    * Some law enforcement officers, such as sheriffs, and many judges who are elected or appointed because of their political views or popularity.

Not considered a politician

    * Members of government who serve purely functional roles, such as bureaucrats.
    * Members of the judicial branch, law enforcement, and the military are not usually regarded as being politicians since they are generally executing or adjudicating established law and custom.
    * Ordinary citizens with the power to vote cannot properly be called politicians even though they can participate in group decision-making. A politician participates in public debate that leads to a group decision being reached, while a voter is simply responding to that debate.

I didn’t expect to have to go into too much detail pertaining to government, politicians or  big  corporations.  I mainly wanted to get more people involved with helping to make improvements wherever they can with whatever means they have.
What we do or don’t do today will determain what kind of " Quality of Life " our children and grandchildren will have.

We can’t fix all the problems overnight, we can’t do it all by ourselves.  But we " can do something ", and that says a lot….

I guess " today,  this was my something ".

Got Lemons?

Filed under: Money from the Internet, Web/Tech, Weblogs — alife4imnclady at 1:07 pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2007

When life gives you lemons…..grab a drink.

I know thats not the way it goes…but really. Isn’t it more likely to have a drink or two when your down and out. Sure it is…and the biggest drinkers will tell you put all those antidepressants, sleeping pills and panic attack medication away. They are not good for you and you will just get hooked.

Hello, Mr & Mrs. Alcoholic, aren’t you hooked? Oh sure, it may be cheaper and it works when you need it the most, but don’t you realize, you are medicating yourself?
Yes, its called self-medication….using alcohol, illegal or recreational drugs are used for the same ailments everyone else has to deal with.

So, the next time you think you are better than your neighbor who goes to therapy and is on medication for depression, take a look at yourself and what you do to cope.
We all need to find out what is best for us during any given situation…your way, may not be my way.  I have to take care of me….I have finally learned to love and accept myself for who I am.
That has not been the easiest thing for me to do at all…So, I may get angry at someone who is trying to keep me from something important to me. Like trying to start my own business…sure it may be a long shot, but it may turn out for the good. Because thats all I want it to do anyway, its not a great money making plan..because it is about life, and people.
I think when we invest our time towards creating good in the lives of others, we are rewarded with much more than any amount of money can buy us.
So, every little thing I do from this day will help to better those around me.

If you didn’t know it before, I’ll say it again…I am a Survivor.    A brain tumor called a meningioma, was discovered in early 2000…I had been looking for an answer to many
strange and bewildering ailments. Going to doctor after doctor, year after year, I was told nothing was physically wrong, and prescribed medicines for stress and depression.  I finally gave up. I could not stand one more day of trying to explain my symptoms which came and went, some times I was fine, some days I was miserable.
The very worst thing about that time in my life is , I knew (knew) something was wrong.  I could not dismiss my inner voice, coaxing me to get help. Maybe the time wasn’t right, maybe I was suppose to suffer for a while, maybe I was to find out who my real friends were. It did teach me one lesson, medicine is not an exact science.
And we need to listen to our bodies, after all we know them better than any doctor we go to.
Did I ask, why? Why, me? No, not at all….first off, I was relieved to finally have a diagnosis that explained all my symptoms.  When a tumor invades your brain, more than likely you will suffer pain in other parts of your body. And finding nothing there could be an indicator that it is in your head…not like that did me any good though. I was told it was all in my head, and I guess they where right after all. ( So I say, why not me..)

I have to joke about it now, any time I complained about a headache, I heard " It’s not a tooma "(it was a common thing to say back then). I hesitate to ever repeat those words to anyone. Because you just never know, if you, or the ones you love, may one day hear, "You have a brain tumor"….

I did make a promise to God, not to plea bargain or make a deal, but to bring awareness…so listen to your body.

Now if only I could get the radiologists to review my previous MRI scans (or read my chart) because I got another normal brain scan. Yippe right? Wrong, this will be the second time that they will have to do an addenment, saying that yes, there is another  tumor. This one was  found 6 months after my first brain surgery. Small 8 x 6, measured in millimeters not centimeters …I’ve been told that the constant ringing in my head (or ears) is not related to the tumor. I believe it is, because as it has grown so has the noise…but what do I know. Just that "Medicine is NOT an exact Science"…

PS.. I dedicate this BLOG to my neighbors ,The Taylor’s…Who have been so upset and worried about whomever volunteers to cut my grass…. are going to blow my inferior grass clippings into their yard.  They feel they must make it a point to inform anyone pushing a mower in my yard,  that, "hey, I don’t want her grass in my yard"…
Bless their hearts, I wish grass clippings was all I had in my head …maybe it’s the centimeters not the millimeters…?

TO LOVE SOMEBODY LIKE YOU

Filed under: Weblogs — alife4imnclady at 5:39 pm on Thursday, May 24, 2007

When I first looked into your eyes, I saw someone who had the capacity to love me in the way I had always dreamed of being loved…

After years of denying myself to feel any emotions pertaining to my heart…I met a man.

This man unknowingly awakened my heart from its deep sleep. Like a flower breaking through the snow covered ground, it opened up and blossomed into the most beautiful red rose.

It’s bright red color radiates, as it holds the most powerful expression of Love from within its core.

I felt it as God’s will, as his abundant love overflowed my very own heart, my spirit could not contain or deny, that I, was able to Love someone, someone who had no conditions or expectations…

Just pure, honest, sweet, Love…

I, not realizing, that with that much Love, with the intensity of such a Love, there comes with it the most agonizing intense pain…because, when ever your heartfelt Love has no where to go, so as to express itself, you leave it to throb uncontrollably, longing for that special someone, to acknowledge it, accept it, appreciate it and most of all to understand its true meaning.

There is a great need for us, to share this new found love, learning and growing together, helping to make our world more tolerable…accepting our mission to guide each other and help those around us to have a life filled with God’s Love, and to live a more meaningful existence with his Love, guidance, and understanding.

But you, my Love, did not remain…you left on your own and so this, is something not to be…not yet. But time will tell, we all must wait for the right moment…I pray it will not pass us by, or that you open your eyes, one second too late…For there is happiness passing us by at this moment, a moment we will never get back…so my Love, sleep not too long.

Memories are waiting to Happen
